/Description: Elementary students will receive a delightful introduction to Latin through a small, antic-filled mouse named Minimus. Minimus lives with a Roman family (and cat, Vibrissa) at the Vindolanda Fort in Britain, near Hadrian?s Wall. This course centers on a real family that lived at Vindolanda in 100 A.D. and includes photographs of artifacts discovered there. Students will learn about the culture of Roman Britain through a highly-illustrated mix of comic strips, stories, and myths. Basic English grammar and geography will also be taught. Most weeks students will work on projects that reinforce facts about Roman culture. Latin itself is a highly organized and systematic language. This gentle introduction will begin to prepare students for this kind of systematic study later on when they pursue formal language study.
