Concepts will be applied to real life situations and graphing will be integrated into the teaching. Students will be expected to memorize formulas and definitions throughout the year. Much of the material in this course will be found on the math portion of the SAT and the ACT. Successful completion of this class will prepare a student for Geometry followed by Algebra 2.

Students will need a scientific calculator for some portions of this course.

/ / This class is appropriate for students who have successfully completed a year of Pre-algebra and have strong problem-solving skills. Class time will be spent teaching concepts and applications. Students are to take detailed notes and copy examples worked in class to review at home. Students will use the text as a resource for reference, daily homework assignments, and test review.  The text must be purchased before class begins.

Please note that the yearly tuition of $650 covers both classes per week and may be paid in seven installments ($50 plus $30 supply fee to reserve your spot in the class and $100 per month Sept – Feb).

Students should expect to spend as much time outside of class on their work as they do attending class per week (3 hours). This class will earn the student 1 high school honors credit in math.
