Chemistry requires Algebra 2 to be taken / /concurrently or previously for the student?s success in stoichiometric / /calculations.

/ / We will begin our study of chemistry with the characteristics of the atom and / /continue through the orderly, extremely systematic study of the elements, / /solids, solutions and gases, bonding, reactions, chemical equilibrium, / /acids-bases and oxidation-reduction reactions. The course includes inorganic, analytic / /calculations and an introduction to organic and nuclear chemistry. Problem / /solving is stressed throughout this comprehensive study of Chemistry.

?     Each scheduled Monday, students will log into and watch the recorded / /lecture that includes sample problems and questions.

?     Homework is done outside of class and discussed during the class / /discussion time.

?     Labs will be virtual: The student watches the recorded lab and completes / /and uploads the provided laboratory exercise outside of class.

?     Class discussion is each scheduled Thursday at 1:00-1:55 CST.  Review of questions and problems as well as / /help with specific student questions are the focus of class discussion time.

?     Testing is done outside of class using Canvas online testing.

?     Grades are 50% test scores and 50% lab scores. One test and one lab will / /be dropped each semester.

?     Bob Jones University Press, Chemistry , 4th Edition.  Labs will be done virtually so Mrs. Snow will provide the lab sheets.

  •  Students and instructor will interact with each other in real time.  The instructor will use the provided whiteboard and other tools available in the classroom to conduct the class.  A student may ask questions and respond to prompts by ?raising his/her hand? and either speaking into the microphone or typing into the chat box on the page.  / /
