In this second year of high school Spanish, the students will build on their earlier foundation of Spanish 1 skills as they broaden their ability to communicate. By learning to apply and refine their grammar and vocabulary skills, they become able to express themselves creatively as they actively use the language. They are one step closer to becoming fluent. This is an exciting year for your student because he begins to see the effort of the first year begin to pay off. / /

/ /Students journal about their day-to-day life, in Spanish, to practice what they are learning. We play games in class, eat Hispanic foods, and even sing songs ? all as a way to reinforce and enjoy learning together. Because I grew up in a Hispanic home and am a fluent speaker, I desire to communicate not just the nuts and bolts of the language, but its practical use in everyday life. / /
/ /Online component! In order to provide additional ways to interact with and take advantage of the material, we will be using both online and in-class instruction. Students will meet with me once a week in class where new grammar and vocabulary will be introduced. Their homework will be a combination of traditional and online assignments. I will use the internet for: quizzes, some workbook exercises, listening activities, flash cards, and games. With such a variety of activities, students will listen to the language and write it on a daily basis. Students will still take some tests and quizzes at home- the paper and pencil kind - administered by parents. I?m excited about the opportunity to provide even more ways for your child to review and practice. / /
