/ To that end the students will have planned and/or unplanned speaking opportunities every time we meet.

/ The speech types and lengths will vary by grade level and include: dramatic readings, storytelling, biographical, persuasive, expository, demonstration, impromptu, radio theater, improvisational and personal introductions to name a few.

/ Through these public speaking classes, I hope to encourage students to overcome their fears as they build confidence in their ability to persuade, convert and compel with speech!

7-8 formal speaking opportunities per year.

The American Government semester course is designed to give your high school student a solid foundation of knowledge about our government and political process.

/ Beginning with America’s foundations and culminating in party politics, the vision of this course is to equip students to both understand and positively impact the government.

/ The emphasis will be on both the responsibility and the blessing of citizenship.

The spring semester Foundations in Personal Finance and Economics course is designed to work hand in hand with the fall semester American Government course, but can stand alone.

/ In the fall semester American Government course, we begin discussing economic situations and viable solutions, then in the spring semester Foundations in Personal Finance and Economics course, we look at Economics on the whole and how it affects us on a personal and financial level.
/

/ On a practical level this course teaches saving, budgeting, debt, investing, and insurance, while studying world and national economics topics such as free trade, markets, capitalism vs. socialism and communism, interest rates, the minimum wage, monopolies, bail outs, inflation and much more.

/ The emphasis of this course will be on both the responsibility and the blessing of financial freedom in a capitalist economy.
